St. George Church – Grivița
St. George Church – Grivița was built between 1926 and 1931 by the priest Stelian Marinescu, with the support of the Romanian Railways, to a design by the architect C. Pomponiu. Badly damaged by the 1940 earthquake and the 1944 bombings, it was gradually restored after 1949: the towers and the central ceiling were rebuilt, and until 1971 services were held only in the pronaos. The fresco and mosaic decoration was done between 1972 and 1976 by Gheorghe Răducanu and Iosif Vass. The building, on a triconch plan, has a slender tower over the naos and two towers on the façade.
