Amzei Church
Amzei Church bears the name of the treasurer Amza Năescu, the main founder of the first church here, a modest building with a single tower, erected between 1807 and 1810. Damaged by a fire in 1846 and given two more towers in 1875, the old church was demolished in 1898. The present building was constructed between 1898 and 1901 to a design by the architects Alexandru Săvulescu and Siegfrid Kofczinsky, on a triconch plan, in an eclectic style with Neo-Romanian and Neo-Armenian elements. The interior painting, in an academic manner, is the work of the Italian Umberto Marchetti and was restored between 2013 and 2022.
