Cesianu House (former German Legation)

The Dimitrie Cesianu House, at the corner of Calea Victoriei and Dacia Boulevard, was designed by the architect Joseph Schiffeleers and was the seat of the German Legation. Here, on 25 August 1944, after the capitulation of the German troops, the building was surrounded by an infantry platoon, and the ambassador Manfred von Killinger committed suicide. After the war it became the “Constantin Tănase” Revue Theater, and after 1989 it housed a casino. Today it is part of an office complex.
