Tătărescu House
The villa at 19 Polonă Street was built after 1935, when Arethia Tătărescu obtained the building permit, to plans by the architects Alexandru Zaharia and Ion Giurgea, and was the residence of the family of Gheorghe Tătărescu, Prime Minister in 1934–1940. The building, in the Neo-Romanian style with Brâncovenesc influences and Mediterranean accents, has a façade decorated with carved columns and arcades, and inside it retains solid wood staircases, stained glass and decorated ceilings. After 1947 it was used for administrative and cultural purposes, and in 2011–2012 it housed a restaurant.
