University Staff House (Librecht-Filipescu House)
The building at 46 Dionisie Lupu Street, also known as the Librecht-Filipescu House, was built in the 1860s for Cezar Librecht, director of the Posts under Alexandru Ioan Cuza, to plans by the architect Luigi Lipizer. It is in an eclectic style with Gothic features, with crenellations at the top and niches on the upper façades. After Cuza's abdication, Librecht left the country, and the house was bought at auction by G. C. Filipescu, Marshal of the Palace. In 1947 it became a club for university teaching staff, and since 2007 it has belonged to the University of Bucharest.
