Șosea Buffet (Doina Restaurant)
The Buffet on Șoseaua Kiseleff was designed by Ion Mincu for the 1889 Paris Universal Exhibition and built in 1892; at the initiative of Petre P. Carp, then Minister of Public Works, it was put into use as a restaurant. The building, also called the “Romanian Tavern” (Cârciuma românească), is in the Neo-Romanian style: inspired by traditional houses with verandas, it has a loggia with ogee arches on carved wooden posts and multicolored glazed ceramic decorations. Later extended in the same spirit, it has housed the Doina Restaurant since 2003.
