Manu-Auschnitt House
The house, in the Louis XIV style, was built to plans by the architect Grigore Cerchez for the jurist Iancu Manu and his wife, Zetta Cantacuzino; completed in 1915, it is a faithful copy of the Hôtel Biron in Paris, today the Rodin Museum. In 1932, having lost his fortune, Manu sold it to the industrialist Max Auschnitt. Nationalized after 1948, it became the residence of Petru Groza, who died here in 1958, then a guest house for official visitors and the seat of the Embassy of Argentina. After 1989 it was returned to the Auschnitt heirs.
