Statue of Vasile Lascăr
The life-size bronze statue of Vasile Lascăr, the work of the sculptor Gheorghe Horvath, was unveiled on 1 June 1908 on the street that bears his name, in front of the house where the politician lived. A member of the Liberal Party, Lascăr (1853–1907) was Minister of the Interior and Minister of Finance and the author of Romania's first organic law on the police, modeled on those of France, Germany, Belgium and Austria. On the tall stone pedestal, a young woman is shown writing the inscription dedicated to him.
