St. Nicholas Church – Băneasa
The church was originally the private chapel of the Văcărescu family's boyar residence at Băneasa. Its founder, Ecaterina, widow of the Great Ban Ștefan Văcărescu, began construction in 1768, and the work was completed in 1792, as the dedicatory inscription shows. In 1845, through the marriage of the heiress Maria Văcărescu to Prince Gheorghe Bibescu, the estate passed to him, and he repaired the church; after the agrarian reform of 1864 it became a parish church. Of the original painting, only that of the vault has survived, and the bell tower was rebuilt after the 1940 earthquake.
