Dămăroaia Church
The church in the Dămăroaia neighborhood, dedicated to St. Nicholas and the Holy Martyr Miron, was built in 1946 on the site of a chapel from 1931, to plans by Dimitrie Ionescu-Berechet. Its construction was prepared for years by the priest and the parishioners, with the support of Ion Antonescu and his wife, who contributed one million lei, a sixth of the cost. The foundation stone was laid in August, and the church was blessed on Christmas Day of the same year. It is one of the few Neo-Romanian-style buildings erected for a modest community.
