Reformed (Calvinist) Church

Here, between Luterană Street and the former Calvin Street, stood the church of Bucharest's Reformed (Calvinist) community, made up mostly of Hungarians. The parish was founded in 1815 by the pastor Sükei Imre, and the first church, made of wood, with a parish house, was ready in 1821. On its site, from 1863 onward, on the initiative of the pastor Koós Ferenc, a Neo-Gothic masonry church was built, with its tower completed in 1866. The land had been requested since the 1930s for the expansion of the Royal Palace garden, and in 1959 the church was completely demolished; the pulpit, the organ and the bells went to the Reformed church on Șoseaua Viilor.
