Bust of Theodor Șerbănescu

The bronze bust of the poet and translator Theodor Șerbănescu, a member of Junimea and a corresponding member of the Romanian Academy, is the work of the sculptor Filip Marin. Inaugurated in the Athenaeum Garden on 11 June 1905, it was moved to Cișmigiu Park in 1939. The portrait shows the decorations received by Șerbănescu, a staff officer in the War of Independence, including the Star of Romania and the Military Virtue medal in gold. The tall stone pedestal once had a bronze female figure at its base, now lost.
