National Museum of Maps and Old Books
The museum was founded on 4 April 2003 in a building from the first half of the 20th century on Londra Street, listed as a historic monument, and its collection was formed largely from the maps donated by Dana and Adrian Năstase. Its holdings number more than a thousand maps, engravings, drawings and lithographs, including works by the great Renaissance cartographers – Sebastian Münster, Gerardus Mercator, Abraham Ortelius – and numerous maps of the Romanian lands. The exhibition traces the evolution of cartography over the centuries.
