Bragadiru Palace
Bragadiru Palace was built by the industrialist Dumitru Marinescu Bragadiru, to 1894 plans by the Austrian architect Anton Shuckerl, as a place of entertainment next to his brewery, following the custom of the beer halls of the time. Initially known as “the Colossus”, it has a richly decorated eclectic façade and contained a spectacular ballroom, also used for theater and concerts, as well as a library, a bowling alley, shops and offices. After the 1948 nationalization, Bragadiru's name was chiseled off the pediment of the brewery, which was renamed the Rahova Brewery.
