Statue of Spiru Haret
The statue of Spiru Haret was carved by Ion Jalea in Carrara marble and unveiled in 1935, at the first edition of the “Bucharest Month” (Luna Bucureștilor). It stands in Piața Universității, in front of the University Palace, at the corner of Academiei Street. Having deteriorated over time, it was cleaned and lit up in 2006; in September 2010 it was moved, together with the other three statues in the square, to Izvor Park for the duration of the construction of an underground car park, and it returned to its place in May 2012.
