Lost church · c. 1740–1750; demolată 1984
Spirea Veche Church (Dealul Spirii)
Spirea Veche Church was probably founded between 1740 and 1750 by Spiridon Kristofi, known as Spirea, a Greek from Corfu, who was buried in it; his gravestone bore the year 1765. The whole of Dealul Spirii (Spirea's Hill) took its name from him. The founder dedicated the church to the Metropolitanate, and in 1776 Metropolitan Grigorie dedicated it to the Grigoriou Monastery on Mount Athos. It was one of the three churches torn down to build the House of the Republic: on the night of 27 April 1984 it was razed by successive dynamite blasts.
